ANOTHER FORFEITS HIS BONDBut the City Has Been Enriched by $850 Since the Liquor Raids Began.It cost ;t lot of money these days to be round by the police with ••hooch1' in your possession and since the start of the recent raids inaugurated' by the local police in the round up of the violators of the ISth Amendment, there have been 13 hooch** peddlers arraigned in the City court. Since October n when three local saloon keepers were arraigned in the court charged with having liquor in their possession with the intent to sell, fines and forfeitures of bonds in the court have amounted to $850.The practice on the part of offenders to forfeit bonds which were first set at $50 in each case seemingly was an easy one for the saloon keepers to beat, so the ruling stands now that heavier bonds be imposed on those arrested. It was explained by Prosecutor Merritt this morning that jail sentences cannot be imposed on the first offense but any party found guilty on a second offense whether he forfeited his bonds or was fined in his previous arraignment will be given a jail sentence for his escond offense.The continued eases of Giovanni Colanerri proprietor of barber shop at 192 Railroad avenue and that of John Skoldulski of 358 Railroad avenue, were disposed of in the court this morning. Colanerri forfeited bonds of $75 and Skoldulski paid a fine of $50 and cos.s which totaled $5 4.25. Both men were arrested on Monday by Police Sergeant Joseph Coughlin, the liquor agent. Skoldulski told the court he had purchased a quart of the hooch*’ (Continued on Page Six)
