One of the most important engage ments announced in vaudeville is that of the musical enigma, “Mercedes,” who with his pianist, Mile. Stantone, comes to Pantagee this afternoon. Stencing in the audience with no method of communicating with Mile. Stantone, Mercedes transmits the title of any musical composition chosen by spectators to his assistant and she im mediately plays the melody on the piano. Direct from Arabia comes Hassan Ben Ali’s troupe of 11 whirling sons of the desert, said to be the most as tounding gymnasts before the public. Lowell and Esther Drew will appear in their delightful satire, “In the Drug Store, which has to do with the ad ventures of a drug clerk and his sweet heart. The skit concludes with clever sing and dancing. Povio and Olile Walters, well known as musical comedy, will make their first appearance here, offering a pleas ing musical melange, interspersed with bright chatter and dances. Andrew A. Copeland and “Lankey Lew” Payton promise no end of entertainment in their comedy skit, “A Scene in a Din ing Car. Catchy coon songs and all kinds of fun enliven the act. “The Great Hurrah,” one of the best roller skaters in the world, with a fair assistant, will give an exhibition such as has never been seen here. Great interest is manifested in the vaudeville debut of Miss Sylvia Sa bolesy, a young violinist well known in San Francisco. She has frequently played for charity and society enter tainments and has recently decided to embark upon a professional career. Miss Sabolcsy will be heard in classi cal and popular selections. Sunlight pictures, showing a variety of inter esting subjects, will complete a varied and interesting program.
