day.A resolution relative to the recent elections in the North, introduced yesterday, was tabled. A joint resolution was offered memorializing Congress to grant a general amnesty in tbs manner prescribed m section three of the fourteenth amendment. The resolution was referred.Both Houses then went into an election for I'nited State# Senators, and elected Lieutenant lt;Jovernor Lewis for the long term, and Judge John W. Johnston, of Washington County, for the short term. The Well* Republican candidates, Alexander Sharpe and L. H. Chandler, received the votes of their friends.TlfE TENNESEE SENATORSHII'.Nashville October IS.—A vote for United States Senator was taken in the legislature to-day, resulting as follows: In the Senate, Johnson 11; Fthendge, 8; f’ey ton, 3; Ewing, 1. In the House, Johnson 32; Etheridge,‘21; Flectcher, 12; Peyton, 3; Brown, 7; Emery, 4. Wilton Brown, 2; Nelson, I. Total: Johnson, 43. Fthendge, 29. It is believed that Johnson cannot poll more than forty-nine votes, and that he will be eventually defeated.NEW YORK NOMINATIONS.The Tammany Connty Convention at Tammany Hall mustered in strong force last evening, under the presidency of their Grand Sachem, and made the following nominations:Judge of the Supreme Court John B.
