REDS DEFEAT ALL-60LLE6IANS-The All-Collegians were back at Midway Park for a double header j Sunday but failed to repeat their j' brilliant performance of the previous week and dropped both games to the Reds. The lfeht rain in the morning put the paying field in fine condition but prevented many of the fans from over the county from taking advantage of the bargain day offering. The local boys put up an altogether different kind of a game than they did the last time they faced the Collegians and while they erred at times their work was fast and snappy. They sustained their reputation as sluggers and Chevalier, who had fooled them so badly before can now testify to the fact. Howard Daringer pitched the first game and for the second time stbis year prevented the college ,v boys from scoring an earnra run.Failing in their attempt to drive the ball through they tried the bunting game but the manner in which it was broken up by the “Midget” was easily the fielding feature. The visitors got away in the lead due to an error but the Reds commenced on Chevalier in the third and never let up until they had the game cinched. The score: 6 to 1.Hutchings and McBreen were the opposing pitchers in the second game with Mike Simon doing, the backstopping for the Reds. “Hutch” had terrifio speed with perfect control and while hit hard at times was never in danger. McBreen was good for just two innings and then the Reds hit him to all parts of the lot. The Collegians with a record of being the best fielding team out of Cincinnati went to pieces in the face of the heavy fire and the locals [made it a walkover. Chevalier was sent back in the 7th but ^ was of no use as “Hutch” grew better the far ther he went. The Score: 8 to 3.
