Daily National Democrat. FURTHER BY PONY EXPRESS. Additional Eastern News. Jefferson City, October 7,—Information has been received here that, three weeks ago, a slave insurrection was attempted in Jasper county, and that thirty-five of the negroes were killed, and a number of others were hung. The discovery of the plot proved that the insurrection was widespread, and that the negroes intended to murder their masters and perpetrate all manner of bar barities. A report is current that 2,000 rebels are twenty-six miles from Herman, marching towards the Gasconade river, with the inten tion of burning the bridge across that stream. The rebels are said to be headed by M. Johnston. It is General Fremont’s intention to follow Price rapidly and cautiously. He says he does not want any more men; that he has sufficient to go anywhere through the South He has entire confidence in his army and officers, and the soldiers repose great trust in him. Information is received here that McCul loch’s forces were on the south bank of the Osage river, a few days since, with the de sign of cutting off Fremont’s communication with St. Louis, and then marching on that city. Fortress Moyner, October 8.—The steamer Express met by agreement this morning the rebel steamer North Cumberland, with a flag of fence, twelve miles above Newport News, and brought down fifty-nine wounded pris oners who were released yesterday at Rich mond, who were captured at Bull Run. They report that there are about 5,000 troops at Richmond, that the rebel army on the Po tomac is supposed to number over 150,000, and that apprehensions of our attack on the seaboard caused the greatest anxiety. Pow erful batteries have been erected along James river in anticipation of an advance of the Federal army in that direction. They also give the following items: Gov. Brown of Georgia has recalled five regiments to defend that State. The rebel troops were suffering greatly from the want of medicine, clothing and cer tain kinds of food. Articles cut off by the blockade were bringing fabulous prices. The wounded prisoners were released for the reason that their wants could not be sup plied. They have been obliged to sleep on the floor during their imprisonment. General Beauregard was at Manassas, and Jefferson Davis returned to Richmond on Sat urday in feeble health. Speculations were rife as to his successor. Seventeen of the prisoners, who are una ble to home, have been sent to the Old Point Hospital, Detroit, October 8.—It is believed the charges against Colonel Rankin, for a breach of the Neutrality Law, cannot be sustained. In event, his arrest by the Canada authori ties will not impede the organization of the regiment of Lancers being rendenzvoused here. Over thirty recruiting offices in the Northwestern States are actively at work, and over 500 picked men have already been enrolled. Aveusta, (Ga.,) October 4.—J. Brown has been re-elected Governor of Georgia by a majority of between five and ten thousand. Louisville, October 7.—The Memphis pa pers of September 80 state that 50,000 Enfield rifles, which came into a Southern port some time since, have arrived at Memphis. A Southern Commercial Convention as sembled at Macon, Georgia, on the 4th. The University of Mississippi will be closed for want of patronage. The Pocahontas Advertiser says J.C. Hindman has obtained 3,900 more men from Arkansas for Hardee's command. The Northern Bank of Alabama has sus pended specie payment at the instance of Gov. Moore. The Nashville Merchants have agreed to take Treasury notes at par for debts and goods. Gov. Moore of Louisiana, has ordered all the pork to be secured from New Orleans speculators, who had advanced it to $50 per barrel. A vessel with a thousand bushels of salt, from Laguyra, had its cargo taken from bra zer’s river to Richmond. A schooner was captured near Galveston recently with two hundred sacks of coffee and fifteen thousand cigars. M. J. Meeds, Chairman of the Military Committee of Memphis, says it is ordered that no more cotton or tobacco be shipped there until further orders, and if planters don’t stop shipped, the military authorities will send the cotton back into the country at the owners’ expense, The Fort Smith Herald says the Cherokees will furnish three, the Creeks two regiments and the Seminoles one battalion, General W. T. Sherman will supercede Gen. Anderson at the head of the Depart ment of the Cumberland; Gen. Anderson re tiring on account of ill health. The Confederate Government has author ized Gen. Mudre to arrest all Yankees who may ‘insist on their former rights of property in the South, Foreign News. Farther Port, Oct. 8.—The steamship Norwegian, from Liverpool, Sept. 26th, via. Londonderry Sept. 28th, has arrived off Farther Point. The Paris Patrie denies that the English journals insist that France and Spain intend an intervention in the affairs of Mexico. The London Dimes says intervention is with the full concurrence of the American Govern ment. It was asserted that in consequence of re cent events in Japan, the English vessels of war on the China station have been ordered to decide Liverpool breadstaifs are tending down ward with little inquiry. On Friday pro visions were dail and dropping, Consols for money 98 and 934. Farmer Point, Oct. 8 —Sir Edward Bul wer said he had long foreseen the rupture in America, and he had thought it would lead to happy results, both for the safety of Eu rope and other reasons. The breaking up of the American republic was not a failure of Democracy. Any other form of government would have equally failed in keeping to gether sections of a country so geographically vast and with interests so antagonistic to each other. The issue of notices for the adoption of short time in the Lancanshire Mills, was daily becoming more apparent, and under these circumstances spinners and manufacturers were showing increased confidence to abstain from putting their goods on the market till prices shall have attained a point in some de gree commensurate with the rise in the rate of the raw material. The following is a summary of the news sent out by the City of Washington from Liverpool, Sept. 25th: The Great Eastern was less damaged than was at first reported. The Times thinks the Emperor of Russia's letter good, and more appropriate and appli cable to the American question than advice from any other power. But obviously the advice will not be taken by a proud and ob stinate people, and more blood must flow be fore the counsels of St. Petersburg will be listened. Further correspondence from Tussell is forwarded in a letter. He says he has no doubt whatever of the ultimate power of the Northern and Western States to subjugate the seceded States if they put forth all their strength. The London Post publishes the terms of a treaty between France and Spain for imme diate intervention in the affairs of Mexico. There is no intention of waging territorial war, but the combined naval force of the three powers will occupy the principal ports in the Gulf. An effectual blockade will be instantly established. Frayer.—The Constitutionnel officially an nouunces that the Washington Government has not authorized its agents in Europe to take military engagements, and that oilers of companies accepting service under that Government, will act on their own responsi bility.
