Goshawks, Flappers and Men Who Get Off Straight and Narrow Path Are Scared There is talk about organizing a woman’s branch of the Ku Klux Klan in York, according to the York Ga zette Daily this morning, which talk, that paper claims, has wrought fear in the hearts of some of the men of the city. A lot of York men are afraid, The Gazette states, that the movement will be pushed forward, and that they will be among the first victims of the women of the Ku Klux Klan, for they believe that the wo men, if organized, will like to take a crack at some of the males who are suspected of doing a lot of things nice men are not supposed to do. The goshawks, particularly, would be alarmed at any such movement. It has been said that women of the Ku Klux Klan are just as likely to get after females as males, and for that reason a lot of York flappers and others are a little shy of the movement. The Gazette says: “It is a cinch that Mayor Hugentagler will put his foot down most firmly on any such attempt. Anyway, it is doubtful if many of York’s women can be induc ed to join, because of the habit the clansmen have of keeping their iden tity a secret and of going round with their faces covered and wearing long gowns.”
