[Special Cor. lo The Sentinel)Mr. Editor:—If you will give space in your valuable paper I will give you a few dots from old Guilford.Colfax is situated in the western part of the county and is a strong hold for the radicals, but they are very uneasy. Col. A. S. Holton is the radical nominee for the Senate. He had an appointment to speak at Sandy Ridge. The Honorable D. F. Caldwel was there to meet the p ople but Mr. Holton did not make his appearance. Whereupon the rads shut the door in the face of Mr. Caldwell, notwithstanding his gray hairs and old age.Last Saturday night the Cleveland and Fowle Club met at Colfax School House and who should make his appearance but Mr. Holton, without giving notice of his coining save to a few of his radical friends. But he was not treated by the Democrats as Mr. Caldwell was treated by the radicals at Sandy Ridge, but was given all the time he wanted. After hi9 speech Messrs. I. J. Brittain and Esquire Davis, farmers, discussed the issues of the day with the precision that would have been a credit to experienced statesmen. In other words they gave Mr. Holton a Bunker's Hill receptiou. At the close of the meeting Mr. Brittain challenged every man on the radical ticket, from Dockery down, to meet him in joint discussion. The people are beginning to wake up. Touch a man’s pocket and you touch his politics. We are tired of the trusts and conspiracies that are being fostered by the monopolists. If the Democ atic party will do their duty, the rads will be brought to the mourners bench the 6th day of November. Silo.r Airriow.
