—The swindling insurance agent, Chas.('. Kasten, recently senteuc lt;1 to six \ ar-*’ hard labor in the Anawo*a penitentiary, had a somewhat remarkable career,having swindled in turn the Cedar Rapids and Farmers’ Insurance companies, of Cedar Rapids; the Uawkeye and State com panies, of Pes Moines; the ITienix, of Brooklyn, and the Burlington. The Burlington cmpany becoming satisfied that Kasten was a crook, discharged him in June last, when he skipped to Missouri to escape its vengeance, and the company failing to discover his whereabouts, published him in several papers. Kasten managed to evade impending justice for a while, but firtunately for insurance interests the “pen’' has claimed him for it own at last, ilis trial was had at Cedar Rapids.
