August 2,1850 49-lyWas Committed,TO the Jail of Claibornecounty, Miss., as a runaway, on the 2Sth July, 1850, by Wm. H. Jacobs, Esq., a Justice of the Peace,Jin and for said county, a negro man who says his name isThomas Woodward,nnd that he belongs to Mr. Peterson, a negro trader, and ranaway from him at Natchez, in October, 1849.Said negro is of a dark copper color, stout made, thick neck and low forehead, has a good se* of large teeth with the exception of one of the upper front row broken off near the gum. He is about 23 years old, 5 feet 4 inches high. He had on when committed white cotton pants and shirt.The owner of said negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges and take him away, or he will be dealt with according to law.A.
