Claude E. Mitchell, 77, of Dun canville, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1996. Mr. Mitchell was born Feb. 14, 1919 in Blossom, Texas,to Walter and Eula Mitchell. He served in World War II in the North Africa Theater, and was also a P.O.W in Italy. — Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 1996, at the First Baptist Church of Duncanville, under the direction of David Clayton Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Brister and Dr. Larry Nixon officiated. Interment was held at 3:30 p.m. in the Red Oak Community Cemetery in Blossom. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eula Mitchell, and grandson, Steven Valerio. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Mitchell of Duncanville; one son and daugh ter-in-law, Clay and Claudia e of Clearwater, Fla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Patrick Smith of Lee’s Summitt, Mo., Claudette and Kenneth File of Logan, Okla., and Margaret and R.B. Watts of Arlington; nine grand children; one great-grandchild; one brother, Preston Mitchell of Blossom; and two sisters, Ruby Crawford of Blossom, and Gladys McClellan of Mohank.
