Frice, director of the New Jersey state department of hyalth, it was planned today to lift the Influenza quarantine in this state, October 24,if abatement of the disease continues as rapidly during the ensuing week us during last week. Whether or not the quarantine will be lifted will depend entirely upon reports from all sections of the state dealing with the death rate from Influenza. If the deaths and new cases continue to decrease then the quarantine will he lifted, otherwise not.This discussion as to lifting the quarantine does not mean that there will he any relaxation in the quarantine at the present. The state health authorities appreciate the seriousness of the situation and they are exercising every precaution to wipe outthe disease.OCEAN COUNTY SURROGATEIS VICTIM OF INFLUENZALakewod. Oct. 15.—Dr, Otto C. Thompson, of Lakewood, surrogate of Ocean county, died at his home this morning after a short illness withpneumonia, following an attack of influenza.His death at this time will necessi-. tate the appointment of a successor Lo serve until the general election of lit 11), the time for nominating candidates for the general election of this year having expired. It is expected that a delegation of Ocean county politicians will go to Trenton to see the governor in the course of a week to Lake up with him the selection of a new surrogate to serve for a little more than a year. Doctor Thompson was a Democrat and was the only mefber of his party chosen to an important office in this county this year.
