In other wfords, though the Republican party has done better than it could have hoped for, under the peculiar circumstances of the case in this exceptional and slightly insane year of polities, having elected its candidates for t «vo of themost important couuty offices, still it has no cause for excessive jubilation. The result of the election of Tuesday was, as a general thing, a pretty severe drubbing for our side. This may as well be acknowledged, first as last. The Anti-Mo nopoly State ticket has a majorit) of about 250; and their whole county ticket with the exception of Treasurer and sheriff is elected by about the same figures. Poor, Republican candidate for Treasurer, is elected by a majority of 250, and Farr, Republican candidate for Slier iff, has about lfiO majority. The vote was light in the aggregate, but a larger Democratic vote was polled than year before.
