TUCSON (AP)-A four-hour search through a sanitary landfill west of here has turned up the severed remains of what Pima County sheriff's deputies say is a human body Searchers continued digging through the county landfill late Wednesday for possibly more remains. A sheriff's spokesman said bones and flesh “definitely were identified as part of a human.” Sgt. William Keen of the sheriff's homicide division said the remains were “not skeletonized — there is still tissue on the bones. Deputies said it appeared the remains were “fairly fresh,”’ possibly less that a week old. ‘*They haven't been exposed to normal Climatic conditions. The grisly search began Wednesday evening after a 24 year-old Tucson man called the sheriff's office, reporting he had seen a plastic bag containing what he believed to be parts of a human body as he dumped garbage. Deputies would not identify the man. But when deputies arrived as the land fill near the Ryan Field airstrip, they found a bulldozer had already covered the remains with dirt. The bulldozer operator, Jesus Valen zuela, 52, said the man who spotted the remains “‘said he saw the stuff, a hand or something.” Deputies said they were not aware of any missing persons and had no recent unsolved murders.
