25 YEARS(FROM PAGE ONE) finally ended Sunday, June 1 at 6:15 p.m. when Washington County Deputy Sheriff Elwood Goldberg used tear gas to force Mitschke from his trailer home in the Sandtown Community.Fifty-eigh4-year-old Max A. Mitschke, who lived at Giddings but had a place at Sandtown, was stabbed to death at his home May 29th following a brief argument with his nephew.Mitschke of Rt. 1, Box 159, Carmine, was pronounced dead on arrival at Boehne Hospital in Brenham He had been stabbed numerous times in the chest, abdomen, arms and face.Witnesses say that at approxi: mately 11:30 p.m., Leon and his uncle exchanged angry words in an argument over whether Max Mitschke's grandsons could use the family car.Leon, enraged, grabbed a _butcher knife just inside thefamily house trailer and began stabbing, the witnesses stated.The alleged murdered then fled i on foot, armed with .410 shotgun. Police in surrounding counties ( worked with the WashingtonCounty Sheriff’s Department in the search.
