It now becomes our sad task to chronicle the death of Mr. William Kerr, who passed peacefully to his reward on Sunday, Oct. 4. at the hour of two o’clock in the afternoon.The late Mr. Kerr was born in the county of Fermanagh. Ireland, in 1822, and lived near to the town of Enniskillen. When but a young man of eighteen years he emigrated with his people to America, his mother dying on board the ship. Aftei reaching America he, with an elder brother, lived on the farm now occupied by Mrs. Chas. Mills.Some time afterwards he purchased the farm on which he resided until death called him home. It was said that when Mr. Kerr was a young man, for a number of years he creased over to United States in thetshc£018npia*11in701bespring, worked hard all summer, ro-1 Aoiof to ! sa) cratsoturned home with his savings in the fall and thus helped to pay for his farm.In religion Mr. Kerr was an esteemed Methodist, being a member of | Bethel church for fifty years.The late Mr. Kerr was married three times, his first wife being r- j sj: oh Lowes, his next wife Ann Jlfes.: Si and his third wife, Frances Morton, at who survives hirt*. Besides his wife,Mr. Kerr leaves eight children to mourn his loss : four sons and four daughters. The sons are David, in the Northwest ; William., near Ome-mee; Thomas and John at home.The daughters are Mrs. William Lowes. Mrs. Joseph Lowes, Mrs. Robert Ruth and Miss Jennie, *at home.By nature Mr. Kerr was modest and unassuming. In dealings he was honest and upright, in manner, jovial, so that he made many friends who will always revere his memory.Rev. Mr. McKenzie, pastor of Bethel circuit and ,Rev. Robt. McCulloch. of Omemee, conducted the funeral services. Rev. Mr. McCulloch spoke feelingly at the home and also conducted the service at the grave which seemed beautiful, even in its sadness.The funeral procession, was large, there being 86 vehicles in attendance.atsosaIthipricoiI*3I
