Tin* Chainpinn Walker.(i, M. Schilling, a one armed man, hasbegun the job of walking around the world, and reached Pontiac Monday on his long journey. He started from New York and the conditions are that he ia to return to that city in August, 1901, with $5,000, and he can neither beg nor spend any money. He carries a card stating that he is the champion long distance walker, having walked a distance of over 15.000 miles in less than two years. In 1800 he walkedfrom Pittsburg to San Francisco and return in ten months. He average* about tbirty-flve miles a day. He is 23 years old and on his hat is the inscription, “Champion Walker”, and the knapsack he carries states briertv the abject of his journey. He walked in from the north on the C. .V A. tracks, and he left on a tie ticket over the same road for tSt. Louis, thence to San Francisco and Australia.
