ComRApEs:—Caleanies Camp No. 62, United Confederate Vet erans have organized a Grand Re union of all Confederate Veterans of the pariah and Southwest Lou isiana, to be held October 21, 1892, which will be Columbus Day, or the 400th anniversary of the dis covery of America by Christopher Columbus. This day will be ob served all over the United States an a National Holiday. We propose to erect a camp in one of the beautiful groves that [eap round our city, where all the old Confederate soldiers will be fed and aheltered, thus bringing back the memories of the days from 1861 to 1865, when we stood together for a cause we all loved 80 well. Around the camp-fire, on the night of the 20th, we propose to meet each other with the hearty hand-shake and recount the scenes of bygone days—the story of march, bivouse and battle, of dangers of feld and flood, of trials through heat and cold, in a word, to have the more, good old Con federate rally before we pass away sinto the Great Beyond. Every Confederate soldier, whether enrolled or not in the or ganization of United Confederate io ‘eterans, is cordially invited and i d urgently requested to attend. Arrangements will be made with r ailroads to give reduced rates over their lines. Distinguished ex-Confederate Generals, among whom will vet Gen. Gordon, Commander in Chief, of the United Confederate Veter ans; Gen. Moorman, Adjutant General; General, Lyman, Beau regard, Fitzhugh Lee, Early, Nich olla and others, are expected to be in attendance. Mia, Jefferson , Davia and daughter, Mise Winnie, are invited. As no reminder of the almost waeless appendage of the Court of Appeala to the judicial machinery of the State, it needs only to be stated that in the pariah of Nat chitepher, where litigation has been somewhat extensive, only 77 cases have been taken to this court since 1885, a period of seven years. The salaries of the judges jed amounts to 656,000. ‘The total number of cases since 1879 iea Ib would be gratifying to know just how many cages have been taken up to the first circuit court from the different pariahon during a period of thirteen years, vosting the utute 104,000 lubularies wlone wl | paid out of the hard earnings of the people.
