Tom McAlpine wishes to meet any man in Minnesota in a boxing contest, either six rounds or to a finish as may be agreed on for from $200 to 8500 and gate receipts. Match to take place in ten days or two weeks after signing the articles. Mr. McAlpine would be especially pleased to meet Messrs. Donalson, Duplessis, Patsy Mellen, or Prof. Barns, of St. Paul, or any other middle weight in the state. First come first served is his motto. Beat Barney Harris, Virginia City, Neb., 1863, ten rounds, thir teen minutes, purse $200; beat George Barnes fourteen rounds, twenty-two min utes, Idaho City, 1865, purse $300; beat Jack Burns, near Sacramento, Cal., ten rounds, fifteen minutes, purse $1,000, 1866; beat Joan Devine, Julias Chicken, near San Francisco, 105 rounds 110 minutes, purse $600, 1886; fought Johny McElroy 108 rounds, 115 minutes, (owing to darkness the fight was declared a draw), in the same ring as Dooney Harris and Tommy Chand ler fought near San Francisco, Cal., 1867, purse $1,009; beat Bayne Mackeys Nevile, near Detroit, Mich., 1868. eighteen rounds, 130 minutes, purse $800;beat Fred Bussey, near Chcsgo, fifty,two rounds, sixty-five minutes, purse $1,600; tou ut Johny Mulli gan ninety-one rounds 100 min utes, draw owing to dark darkness. Owing to an injury received in this battle McAlpine retired from the prize ring, but last winter he fought Jack Dempsey four rounds, Queensbury rules, in Harry Hill’s theatre in New York, for a purse of $100, and the referee declared it a draw He claims to have won more battles in the prize ring with bare knuckles than any American pugilist living, he has also trained and seconded the following champions: Joe Coburn in his battle with Mace near New Orleans, 1871; Charlie Norton, ex champion of the light weights; Jack Demp sey, present light weight champion of Amer ica; and he is admitted by old ring goers to be one of the best judges of pugilists in America.
