Natc-hitochks Nominations. —The Natchitoches Democracy met in convention on the 23d ult., and nominated the following ticket: For Parish Judge, C. Chap linj for the Legislature, Jacob Kile and N. I’. Metoyery for Sher-| iff, G. W. Duncan and Coroner, Taylor Holden. Three of the nominees, Messrs. Motoycr, Duncan and Holden, are colored men. Of their nomination the Times says:“The nominations of three colored men on the ticket was made for two reasons—first, because i they bad the confidence of their fellow citizens, who knew them to ; Im honest, honorable, and trustworthy, standing in this respect , as |»eers of the best men in tbe I land—second, to show that we endorse the resolutions passed ut the lute mass-meeting in this parish, uot iu empty words, but sin cercly, honestly, irrevocably; and by our acts we proclaim, that from j this day forward the Democratic party of Natchitoches parish has accepted in good faith the iu-; corporation of the colored popula-tion into our political system. Let | others wrangle as they may, we shall always be found ready to defend and maintain the rights enjoyed by them under the constitution and laws of the country; and j henceforth our acts, as well as our , words, shall prove the sincerity of ! our declarations.”
