GAMBLING DEVICE ARRESTS Two men were arrested and charged with conspiracy to cheat at gambling Monday following a four-day investiga tion by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. Detectives Mike Brady and Dave Hatch, along with agent Billy Suggs of the State Gaming Control Board, arrested Ray Allen Jacobs, 24, and Ramon Pereira, 28, both of 6300 Tropicana Ave., about 4:30 .m. Officers said the men went to a local business and requested a certain device be made for them which is used to manipulate slot machines. Police said one of the men said he had attended slot mechanic school. Both said they were unemployed at the time of their arrest. The pair was also charged with possession of a cheating device and possession of a con trolled substance — marijuana, police said. WOMAN RAPED A 38-year-old woman was raped at her Lake Mead Boulevard home Monday after two men gained entrance to the residence and attacked her, police reported. According to police, the woman was in her kitchen fix ing lunch when two men entered the room through the back door. She said the men forced her into the living room and one held her down while the other disrobed and assaulted her. The victim said she managed to flee from her assailants and run up the stairs to another room. She said one of the suspects followed her but she grabbed a rifle and pointed it at him. He turned around and fled with his companion. HITCHHIKER REGRETS Accepting a ride from a stranger proved costly for Vic tor Lockwood Sunday. Lockwood told police he walked out of the Fremont Hotel and was approached by a man who asked him if he had won any money. Lockwood said he told the man he broke even and the stranger, after chatting with Lockwood for awhile, offered to drive him home. The victim said he accepted the ride. When the men were in the vicinity of Charleston Boulevard and Maryland Parkway, another man who had been hiding in the back of the vehicle came up from the back seat, put his arm around the victim’s neck and demanded all his valuables. Lockwood said the duo dropped him off near Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road. GAS STATION ROBBED Tom’s Mobil station at 2101 E. Sahara Ave. was robbed of $36.50 by a man who entered the office and demanded money from the attendant. PURSE SNATCH INJURY A Chicago woman was in jured when she and a friend were walking to their room at the Stardust Hotel and a man ran up to them from behind and grabbed her purse con taining $1,510. The victim, Ruth O'Connor, was bruised and sustained an injured leg, according to police.
