Poa. The foursome of Paul Graho vac, Jim Herman, Doug Dyer and Pete Adams combined efforts last night to lead Gard ner’s Trailblazers to 36-14 deci sion over Lansing. It was a big victory for the Johnson County outfit. It en abled Gardner to even its sea son’s record at 3-3. It was also the first Pioneer League deci sion of the year for the Blazers. Grahovac, who was all over the field in the homecoming tilt for Gardner, amassed 220 yards in 24 carries. He was the work horse in the triumph. With 8:46 left in the second period, Grahovac scored on a 55-yard romp. Herman added the two-point conversion on a run. With 1:18 remaining in the half, it was Dyer who crossed Lansing’s goal. He had snagged a 59-yard pass from Adams, second-string quarterback. Her man again added the two-point conversion. And with only 19 seconds left in the second, Grahovac scored from 23 yards out. The conver sion was short, but the Blazers took a strong 22-0 lead to the dressing room at intermission. Grahovac, who scored three TDs for Gardner, continued to electrify the homecoming night crowd. He raced 14 yards for his next score with four min utes remaining in the third. Mike Vickers caught Adams pass for another two-point PAT. Gardner still wasn’t finished scoring. In the fourth, with 10:52 showing, Herman grabbed a 44-yard pass from Adams and raced to pay dirt. The extra point, on a run, failed. Not until Gardner had called off the dogs did Lansing score. With 3:54 left in the game, Mike Huber went four yards for the touchdown, with David Burgess racking up a two-pointer on a run. And then with only 15 seconds left, Lansing scored again. This time, Huber went four yards. The conversion— a running effort—failed. The victory was costly for the ‘Blazers. Carlton Scarlett suffered a broken leg during the game, and will be out for the season. He’s an end for Gardner. Next week, the ‘Blazers will go against Paola at home. Gardner rolled to 466 yards total offense, while limiting Lansing only 176. The statistics: First downs: Gardner 17, Lansing 9. Yards rushing: Gardner 342, Lansing 140.
