Seventy-nine liquor Licenses have been granted in Allen county, al though 85 is the limit allowed. Eighty-seven applications were filed, but two of these have been with drawn and six men have been refus ed licenses in Lima. Those to whom licenses were refused are: William M. Bryan, proprietor of the Sherman House; Daniel M. Kelly, 792 North Main street; Brice W. Blair, 1233 East Market street; Ralph Hooker, 214 South Main street; Henry J Sauer, $36 North Man street; Pete Keiper, 15 Public Square. The six refused licenses may ap peal. The hearing will be next Wed nesday. The men were refused li censes because of having been con victed in court of violating the state laws. A number of these cases are now pending in court of common pleas. Fred Harrison withdrew his appli cation for a renewal at 312 North Central avenue. He notified the board that he intended to quit the saloon business forever. Antimo Vastano, who asked a license for a saloon in Perry township, has with drawn his application, NOTICE MACCABEES. There will be a special called meeting Monday evening, Oet. 16th, in the Central hotel over Morris Brothers clothing store. General Sletzer will be with us. As this is a very important meeting every Maccabee in Lima is urged to be present at 1:30, sharp, Commanders Lima and Banner Tents. ee PORT CLINTON——A delay on part of the outgoing mail of its city may be blamed to Uncle Sam, due to persons depositing letters in the new steel boxes labeled “please help to keep our city clean,” the ob ject of the receptacles being to hold waste paper and rubbish.
