Lady Ailsa.Lord Ailsa lias been married twice. His first wife was a daughter of the third Lord Blantyre, and a great believer in temperance. At one time the late Lady' Ailsa used to give lectures on the evils of drink in the market square at Maybole, with her pony carriage as a rostrum. The second and present Marchioness of Ailsa is the daughter of the late Mr. Hugh McMaster, a man of lowly birth, who resided at Kausani, in India. Lady Ailsa was herself brought up as a child at Girvan, in Ayrshire, and made the acquaintance of Lord Ailsa on board ship coming back from India. It was not, however, until landing that she discovered the position of her admirer, and was then greatly taken aback with the thought of the responsible duties she would have to perform in her old country. Lady Ailsa very soon won the affection of all around from her charm of manner and her many accomplishments, and is now one of the most popular people in Ayrshire.
