— * —* The negro who stabbed Mr. Seneca Diggs, was seen near Middlegrove, Monroe county, on Sunday night; last* He was on his way to Illinois* and inquired the road of another negro whom he met. He told the latter what he had done in this county, and thet he was endeavoring to make his escape. This the latter immediately divulged to some white men who started, in pursuit of the fugitive; thoy came up to him within gun shot and fired at him, but'without doing any execution.
