CUIUOSIIY. ‘We were shown on Saturday last i the foot and part of the leg of a man' in a petrified state, bv Mr. James Murphin, of the Bloom Furnace company. It was excavated by their bands from the ore banks, near seven feet underneath the surface of the earth. They have at the Bloom the [ head and arm, and part of the body of the same skeleton, all preserved in a very perfect similitude. The part shown us retained the exact proportions of the humao foot and leg up to the knee; showing the ankle joints and joints of the toes io a very perfect manner. The bead and arm are said to have retained their original form with still more exactness. Thu whole skeleton is now a compound Iron ore. Who this man was or when he became iron monger, no one knows.
