This group directed the 20th annual holy convocation held at Pentecost Church of Jesus Christ, 1802 E, Buchanan, Sept. 30-Oct.8. Bishop Loring, pastor of the church stated that more than 300 delegates and members attended, Bishop T. Davis presided over all the sessions. Convocation assistants were Mesdames Mamie Loring, evangelist, Hannah De Bouse, secretary and Willie B. Jackson, hospitality chairman and reporter. Grant Jackson, 28, of 4841 S. 21st St. began a 6-month jail sentence for the traffic death last July 15 of Alex Andy, 57, Jackson’s automobile struck and killed Andy as he stepped off the curbing at 13th Street and Washington. Witnesses said the car was traveling 60 to 70 mph. Attorney Thomas J. Croaff, Jr. reminded Superior Court Judge Laurens L. Henderson that Jack son, father of seven children, was sober at the time of the accident. ‘But we do have a death, and we do have excessive speed,’’ noted the judge. Andy resided at 118 S.
