Muskingum's 204-pound ‘Cannon ball’—Fullback Bill Cooper from New Philadelphia—was a one-man show in the Muskies’ 48-15 blast ing of Findlay College Saturday night on the gridiron at New Concord The big boy not only negotiated four touchdowns but he kicked a five-yard field goal, ran for three two-point conversions and kicked one extra point from placement for a total of 34 counters. The 33-point difference in the score did not tell the story exactly. Two of three fumbles and an in tercepted pass proved costly. One bobble at the 42-yard line paved the way to a Muskie TD, and an other at the 10 set up the field goal effort. The intercepted serial was turned into a TD. Statistics showed Findlay net ting 242 yards rushing to Mus kingum's 272, and 4 yards on three completed passes out of six to the Muskies’ 3% yards on three-for-six. In first downs, it was Muskingum, 15-11. Two of Muskingum’'s total came on a safety when halfback Ed Jordan was tackled in his end zone. The “Cannonball,” a powerful inner, scored on 3, 31, 40, and 14-yard runs, his 40-yard sprint re sulting from the interception of a forward pass by Oiler Quarterback John Bennett. Muskingum’s other TD's were recorded by 190-pound substitute Fullback Gene Storts on a two yard plunge and a 63-yard gallop. The Oilers tallied in the second and third periods. The injured halfback Ronnie Rahe, back in action for only three or four plays, took an aerial from Bennett for a TD, the play covering 21 yards and Jordan plunged 2 yards for the other. Jordan ran for a two point conversion, and Jim Lavrich booted an extra point from ‘place ment. While the “Cannonball” was the scintillating figure in Mus kingum's lineup, it was Find lay’s halfback Jordan who won acclaim from the 3,500 spec tators. The Oller speed merchant turned in care of 49, 36, 18, 17, 13 and 13 to give him a total yardage of 184 in 19 carries. Noteworthy defensive stints came from a quartet of Findlay forwards — end Clair Karcher, guard Denny Bonifas, and tackles Lavern Kremer, the captain, and Herman Alexander. The defeat was Findlay’s first after winning two games and deadlocking one.
