She entertained in her usual gracious manner, and all the members of the club in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.. fit was eminently fitting for the club to hold the first meeting of the new club year at the home of Miss Me-Oroery, as that was the scene of its organization some years ago. Miss McCreery, with Mesdames M. F.-SI'atheny, W. M. Taylor and Chris McTaggart, was the promoteress. Since then the club has been a flattering success. Itis the most desired soeial organization of the city. Its membership is limitedto thirty,-but it has a waiting list, that more than supplies the vacancies that occur from to time.' Taylor.Original story, “The Cuckoo,” by Mrs. Warren.Vocal solo, “The Lullaby,” Miss La-neer,“ For word, “ Miss Ethel McDiarmid.Though all the numbers were really excellent and very interesting, Miss McDiarmid’a paper was unusually so, expressing as it did the objects and ambitions of the organization. Speaking of its objects she says they are “the enjoyment and study of literature, art, and music,” and Lhu acquirement of “personal and social culture of every kind.”
