All Cases of Contagious and In fectious Diseases Should Be Reported. Health Officer Chapman Calls Attention To Health Precautions---Impor tance of Reporting Cases of Chicken Pox. Health Officer Chapman stated to a DAILY CRESCENT reporter last even ing that every precaution was being taken to prevent contagious and in fectious diseases from getting a foot hold here and that the prompt deliv ery of all cases would greatly assist in the work. He says that the law re quires that all cases where typhoid is mentioned, such as typhoid mataria and typhoid fever must be reported to the health officer and cards posted on buildings, warning the public of the existence of the disease. Dr. Chapman also spoke of the im portance of reports on cases of chicken pox and said that the law makes it imperative to report them. He explained that nearly all cases of smallpox that had been found in dif ferent places in the state that were treated for and were at first believed to be chicken pox and that develop ment proved them to be mild cases of small pox and thereby came the im portance of reporting chicken pox. The matter of reporting cases of cou rageous and infectious diseases to the health officer is one of great import ance and should not be neglected and the people can not be too careful in taking every precaution possible to guard against small pox getting into the city and Secretary Protest of the State Board of health has been diligent in warning the people against the disease which he says_exists in a mild form in different places of the state and that it is expected to show itself when cold weather sets in. The report of a single case of small pox in a city will do more to paralyze the business than anything else could possibly do as people will keep away from a city where the malady exists and besides the disease is one of the most terrible that can afflict a com munity and the importance of taking every possible step to guard against it should be seen and taken.
