Mr. Wallace was 111- present at tbe political speaking, and in company aH with Mr. James Tsrleton left for home late in the evening. Mr. Wallace driving, and under tbe influence of liquor. While passing tbe residence of Mr. Cyrus Morrison, about eight miles from town, going at a very rapid rate, they ran into a deep rut, and tbe jolt threw Mr. Wallace out. He struck the ground on bis bead with such force as to break bis neck. He lived bat a few moments after tbe accident. Mr. Wallace was at one time quite wealthy, but bis unfortunate habits caused him to lose it His wife, who survives him was a Mrs. Cross, a daughter of Col. 8. Bird of Edgefield, 8.
