Bwt/r n Oct. 2, 1869.To the Editor of the Waco Register :la the **y oi lai^toTciiuoauj, this county klt;*.H increased considerably daring the p*«st year. Cotton gins are constantly going ap in different parts of the county, and the owners of tttem seem to think alt will have enough to d in due season Several mills (grist and saw) have been pnt in operation on the Sala-do Creek within the past six months, and one or two 6tcam mills are in course of erectien in the lower part of the county. Our towns, Belton and Salado, have had improvements in proportion to the county and a great deal of business is now transactod at both places. It the ootton crop proves good it will make as great a change in this county within the next year, as it has in the past year, for which nearly every one is praying. There will not be rnuoh wheat sown the present fall, in my opinion, owing to the partial failure of ths three years past, and the appearance of the grasshoppers in the last two years, aud are looked for again (his year by some. 1 have no idea they will make their appearance this fall, as it is known that they never appeared in three successive years. Wo mast judge the future by the past.nnt . lt;• «r « « r
