The funeral services were held Monday, and the remains were laid to rest in the Bruce cometery.Chief of Police David Reed received a telephone message from Lyford, Wednesday, to the effect that the negro Cloe, who shot and killed a policeman at Indianapolis a few days ago, was there. The matter was investigated but there proved to be no truth in the report.John Vestal was born October 14, 1823, died October G, 19015,aged 82 years 11 months and 23—✓ */days. He was married to Sarah Jane Holt May 10, 1848. There were born to this union ten children, of which six have passed on before their mother and four children survive him, Mrs. Amanda Foltz, Louisa Wilson, Alford Vestal and Mrs. Laura Koltz. There are twenty-nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The de-o oceased was a soldier in the war of the rebellion from 1801 to 1805. He was a hard working.industrious man, honorable and upright 5n all business transactions. He leaves many friends and relatives to mourn his loss.
