Mrs. Rebecca Sawyer died at her » home on West Cherry street Friday evening after a long and painful illness. For months she has suffered with a disease that has baffled the skill of the best physicians and in that time she has patiently borne her sufferings with a true Christian fortitude and patience. Stomach trouble is believed to have been the cause directly responsible for her death, but the case had many baffling and perplexing problems which the physicians were unable to solve.Mrs. Sawyer wras the daughter of James and Sylvia Connett and was born at Athens, O., March 23, 1843. • She moved to this county with her parents later in life and was married to John Sawyer in May, 1857. To this union seven children were born, five of whom are still living. She also leaves a husband, three sisters and j one brother. The brother resides at Branch county, Michigan, and one sister lives at Melrose, O. The others ! make their home in Bluffton.The funeral was preached at the house Sunday forenoon at 9:30 and was in charge of the pastor, the Rev. L. A. Beeks. The remains were then taken to Bethel church for interment.
