Mr. St John P. Ellis narrowly escaped sustaining fatal injuries from an accidental fall on last Saturday. lie was standing on the upper roof of ('apt. F. B. Cushman's residence, when the supportfjave way, precipitating him first to the ower roof and thence to the ground. He fell 011 his right thigh and was rendered insensible by the shock. There was no fracture, but the contusions received were very severe and exceedingly painful. At last accounts, we are glad to say, Mr. Ellis was doing as well as could be expected. Considering his age, his escape was a remarkable one.
