Mr. St John P. Ellis narrowly escaped sustaining fatal injuries from an accidental fall on last Saturday. He was standing on the upper roof or ( apt. P. B. Cushman's residence, when the support gave way, precipitating him first to the lower roof and thence to the ground. He fell on his right thigh and was rendered insensible by the shock. There was no fracture, but tho contusions received were very severe and exceedingly painful. At last accounts, wo are glad to say, Mr. Ellis was doing as well as could be expected. Considering his age, his escape was a remarkable one.
