Athens High School varsity cheerleading squad took first place and the junior varsity squad took second place in their divisions Wednesday at a cheerleader tournament in Jackson The tournament was sponsored by Jackson High School. Nine schools competed in two divisions, varsity and junior var sity. ach squad was required to do three cheers, one with a jump, one with a mount and one of their own choice. Judging was based on enthusiasm, gymnastic abili ty, originality, team work and appearance. A panel of three judges awarded points for each cheer. Points were totaled to determine winners.
