A. Strong, Prank street, who is a member of the Marines with the American Expeditionary Force, in France, is reported as missing 111 action, September 16th.The information was conveyed to to the parents this morning in the following telegram received from Charles E. Long, Brigadier General, Washington, D. C.:“Regret to inform you that a message from abroad reports Private Robert Leroy Strong, of the Marine Corps, as missing in action September 16 No particulars are available. See general information mailed you today.’’Robert enlisted with the marines in Buffalo. December 1, last year, and he sailed for France, March 11. He is well known among a host of friends in this city where he was raised, attended and graduated from the public schoolsThe last letter he wrote was dated September 2. At that time he told of serving two periods in the trenches. The first time he was up at the front for 2G days, and the second time for te ndays. He told in the letter of getting ready to “go up” a third time, and it is believed that he must have been taken prisoner.His many friends join with his relatives in the hope that lie is well and uninjured and may soon again be returned to his company. -
