We are getting closer. ”But there are still things that need working on.Most troublesome are the continued special team woes and Woodbridge's tendency to give up a couple of big, backbreaking plays per game.Most discouraging was the play of our special teams, Gibson said. We are working more in practice on that than anything else and it is not producing.The Warriors (0-4) had an extra point blocked by El Toro (3-1) and gave the Chargers good field position on nearly every possession because of poor tackling on punts and kickoffs.Woodbridge tried to kick off deep, shallow, high and low.We tried everything and nothing seemed to work, Gibson said.There are just too many breakdowns on the kickoff team.That aside, Woodbridge still looked like it might run away to an easy victory after scoring the first 13 points in the game against El Toro.On their second possession, the Warriors drove 78 yards and scored on a 14-yard run by Dan Oermann. Kegel threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Sagay on the final play of the first quarter.El Toro came back with two touchdowns of its own to start the second quarter.John Abdelnour threw scoring strikes of 40 and 30 yards within a 13-second span to give El Toro the lead, 14-13. After its first touchdown, El Toro got the ball right back after a Woodbridge fumble.But the Warriors went back on top just before halftime. Kegel engineered a 1-minute and 50-second, 75-yard drive and scored on a 5-yard bootleg to give Woodbridge a 20-14 advantage with 16 seconds to go in the first half.After a long run back, El Toro missed a 39-yard field goal as time expired.Woodbridge dominated the first half statistically, racking up 301 yards on offense.
