LAST WEEK'S GUESS WHOThe farmer with the two-row cultivator pictured in last week s Guess Who column was James Russell Moreland, who spent most of his life in the Grandview community. The Moreland farm was located north of the present Co-op Gin.Moreland, the oldest of 1S children, left the family's home in Olney, I exas when he was about 14 or 1 years old. The lather gave the young man a horse and said Son, you are now old enough to rmike your own living,” and added his parental blessings. The young man meandered through country trails and landed in the Grandview vicinity where he made his home with the Brandon and Ford families in the Lee Sum-mitt area for many years. Several years passed before More-hind was able to finance a visit back to the homestead.He was married to Vara Lockhart and the couple farmed and operated a dairy. After trading their farm here, they moved to Alvarado, where they lived until Mr. Moreland’s death in 1945. Mrs. Moreland passed away in 1954.Hie Morelands were parents of nine children. A daughter, Julia Ruth, died in infancy. A son, 0. K Moreland is now deceased.Remaining children are Mrs. Wilma Williams of Cleburne, Mrs. Zelna Panick and Woodrow Moreland of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Floyd (Tom-mye) Moore of Grandview, Ralph Moreland of Commerce, Sunshine Moreland of Falls Church, Va., and Mrs. Virginia Whitworth of Fort Worth.
