WAS RESIDENT HERE HALF CENTURY AGO -VISITS OLD HOME jMr. and Mrs. Edward Collins of Evansville, Ind., are guests at the home of Mrs. E. C. Johnson who is a cousin of Mr. Collins. Mr. Collins | is a former resident of Monmouth, and ; was bom here. His father was James j Collins, who fifty or 3ixty years ago lived on the north side of East Broadway in a little home in the middle o fthe 600 block, a block now occupied by several of the handsomest homes in the city. He conducted a tin shop on South Main street and will be remembered by the older inhabitants. The family left for Kansas in 1871, but the father returned three years later and died here and was buried in Monmouth cemetery. The son, of course finds everything changed from what he knew during his residence here, and says Monmouth is one of the finest of the smaller cities he has seen.
