The Corner Stone of St. Charles Church Was Laid Sunday at 3 O’clock.Impressive Ceremony Was Witnessed by Large Concourse of People.High Dignitaries Of The Church Preside Over The Meeting,3Sunday was an ideal day for Corner Stone laying of- St. Charles Church. A finer day no one couldwish, the sky was clear and the day was just warm enough to makeit agreeable and pleasant, and the people took advantage of the pleasant day and turned out in gr-at num* bers; the crowd at 3 o’dloCfc, the time of laying the ^toue, was *3,000 strong. The first arrivals came on the Peoria excursion which passed bt about 7 o’clock. The segular train at noon came in on ^ time and it was also crowded. At the noon hour theic ws a great rush for dinner and the vast*crowd was served without any, difficulty. Two long tables had been j ^ arranged on which the Catholic ladies had gfrrcad 250 piatesand a great abundance of the best the land affords1 and for two or three hours every plateQwas in use the waiters kept busy. There was also a refreshment stand on the ground and it did a land office business, Beautiful sou-venicr badges had been provided and met with a ready sale.
