Serious Charges Against Some of the City Authorities. Buffalo, Oct. 10.—As a result of the investigation of Mayor Jewett into the charges sine the department of pub lic works warrants have been issued for the arrest of Howard D. Herr, cashier of the department; John M. Danaby, deputy superintendent of public ; and Joseph Burke, a saloonkeeper and form erly boss of a gang of street cleaners. All nun were arrested. The charge against Herr and Danaby is grand lar ceny. Other arrests are expected. One of the charges made to the mayor was that the payrolls had been padded.
