For two or three year* past, tboae of our citi* n«t who have loat relative* or friend*, and did not own lota in either of the two grave yard* near the Academy, have been compelled to aolicit the favor of tlt; mporary burial from thoae who did, in consequence of there being no lota undisposed of.This state of things ha* naturally led our people to look about them for a suitable apot for another cemetery; and, in view of the general unsuitahleness of the soil around Middletown, it has been a matter of no little difficulty to fix upon a desirable locality of ample area. With a full knowledge of these facts, the farm of Geo. Houston, e*q , in the southwest part of the village, (lying partly within the corporate limits,) has been purchased as the most suitable place around Middletown fur a public cemetery. All who arc conversant with the grounds, coincide fully in that opinion. Indeed, w*c consider it most fortunate that grounds so well adapted to the purpose have been found within so reasonable a distance of the village. The farm alluded to contains 37 acres, thirty of which could nwt well tie bettered In this vicinity for cemetery uses. The soil is mainly a gravelly loam, dry. and free from rocks and stones. Some portion* of it are sand and grnv-el, and as good as could possibly lie desired for the purpose Intended. The w hole tract is beautifully located, overlooking the village and the country beyond, in every direction. The principal portion of the grounds slope towards the village, and are varied by hill* and dales. A small part of It contains a handsome growth of young forest trees. Another portion is an apple orchard, and around the old homestead are various other fruit and or .-mental trees.Further to secure the c jject in view, the property has been made over, at the price paid for it. to a Hoard of Trustees, consisting of the following persons:Jam** N. i’mnk, I«rael O Beattie,James I.ytle, ^ilas L King,John N.
