Man indicted for Lowery murderBY BRIAN LIVINGSTONStaff writerOXFORD — Michael Robbie Kendall of Oxford was indicted Oct. 7, for the murder of Laurel native Devan Lowery, who was shot once in the head with a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle.If convicted, Kendall isfacing death or life imprisonment for the shooting.Lowery, who was fishing at Puskus Lake in Holly Springs National Forest near Oxford, was a student at the University of Mississippi when the June 8, incident occurred. Lowery died June 9, at Mississippi Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.Kendall fled the scene after the alleged shooting but Tom Brown, who was fishing nearby, managed to get a vehicle description and the license plate numbers. That information enabled the authorities to arrest Kendall later that night at his home.Lowery, a graduate of R.H. Watkins High School,was an accounting major and was scheduled to graduate in August of 1999.
