Karen Beachum, Randy Gates man wed in Laurinburg ceremonyThe First Baptist Church in Laurinburg was the setting for the 2 p.m. wedding Sept. 10 uniting in marriage Karen Diane Beachum of Laurinburg, formerly of Vass, and Randy Alexis Gatesman of Gibson. Dr. Lamar J. Brooks and Rev. Larry B. Coleman officiated.The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ross Beachum, Jr. of Laurinburg and the granddaughter of Mrs. Robbie Mae Beachum and the late Joe Ross Beachum of Wadesboro. She is also the granddaughter of Mrs. Evelyn Davis and the late William Henry Davis, Jr. of Sanford.A 1986 graduate of Scotland High School, she attended Pembroke State University and graduated from Sandhills Community College in 1989 with an Associate degree in Elementary Education. She is employed by the Laurinburg Exchange.The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eugene Gatesman of Marblehead, Ohio and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Hepler of Oil City, PA; the late Robert Gatesman and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mulchin of Oil City.He is a 1980 graduated of Oil City High School and a graduate of Vanango County Vocational Technical School. He is employed as sales manager of the Laurinburg Housing Center.Wedding musicians were: Sylvia Stewart, organist, Francis Wilson, soloist; Jennifer Steinbrink, flutist, and soloist, Joe Beachum, father of the bride.Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin with sweetheart neckline, short pouf sleeves, fitted bodice, and Basque waist adorned with seed pearls and sequins. Pearls, sequins and Schif-fli lace adorned the full skirt and V back which extended to a cathedral train also accented with pearls, sequins and lace.She wore a tiara-style headpiece with jeweled crown and double pouf and she carried a cascading bouquet of denobrium orchids, coral and while roses and foliage.Maid of honor was Susan Jane Frye of Vass and matron of honor was Kris Phillips Hipp of Sanford. Bridesmaids were Toni Beachum Seals and Deanna LuAnne Beachum, of Lancaster, SC, cousins of the bride; and Jennifer LeAnne Causey of Charlotte, cousin of the bride.They were all attired in coral brocade suits with long skirts and button-up short sleeve jackets with peplums. They wore pearl jewelry, gift of the bride and carried Euro-pen bouquets of orchids, roses, sta-tice and foliage.Flower girl was Lauren Rene Stevenson of Warren, PA, niece of the groom. Honorary bridesmaids were: Heidi Lynn Reed, sister of the groom; Mrs. Rene Gatesman Stevenson, sister of the groom; Mrs. Rachel Toliver; Anne Williams, Mrs. Carol M. Shelley and Angela Rhys.The father of the groom served as best man and groomsmen were Joel Christopher Beachum. brother of the bride; Stephen Todd Willingham; Stephen Andrew Koziara and Christopher John Stevenson, nephew of the groom. Ringbearer was Steven Justin Davis, cousin of the bride. Junior groomsmen were Jonathan Causey and William Brandon Davis.Wedding director was Mrs. Shannon B. Hancock.Acolytes were Anderson Davisand Daniel Davis.Attending the guest register were Lynda Seymour and Candy Davis.At the conclusion of the ceremony a reception was held at the Scotland Place. The Driftwood Band entertained and guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. J. Ed Davis of Sanford, great-aunt and uncle of the bride and Mrs. Charles Nichols.
