Services are pending at the Fur-gie funeral home, Moline, for John Leonard, 52, of 260 17th Ave., East Moline, who was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Luke’s hospital, Davenport Saturday following an accident at East Third and East River streets.A former Rock Island county Democratic chairman and candidate lor Rock Island county sheriff, Mr. Leonard was born Nov. 4, 1902, in Blue Island, 111. He married Hazel Hamm Aug. 15, 1929, in Peoria. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic church, East Moline.Mr. Leonard was employed as a salesman for the King Korn Stamp Co., Davenport. He had left his office in Hotel Blackhawk only a few moments before the accident. company officials reported.Survivors include his wife, Hazel, and a sister, Mrs. Ray Dow-dal, Moline. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jess, last November.
