This means the greater Gallup people here have been looking forward to for years, the day when this town becomes an important railway center. rIt is official that the vice president of the company has signed his name to the paper which sets in motion the machinery to tup the course of the sometimes flooding Puerco river ana to begirt the grading for the round house, machine shops and other importan tshuildingtobe constructed in this city. .The first spadeful of earth, turned over in this work marks a new epoch in Gallup. A half million dollars are to be spent in the railway division point facilities here. A vast portion of this big sum will be paid out here in labor much of which will be of the high priced, skilled class. After the shops and improvements are completed the forcg that will be maintained in Gallup will be much larger than at preseM,i thereby adding considerably to the existing payroll. .It means a fine passenger station, round house, eating house and handsome parking about it all;. The inauguration of this big addition ta the industrial plants of Gallup should not pass tfflhoti'ced. It will be the biggest day Gallnp has had in its history since the completion of the railroad. The town could well afford to make the day a holiday and have a dignified celebration, of the event.
