When a Pot-Shot per taining to the County of Kent is left out of the Jayton paper on pur pose,_then you can read same in The Texas Spur. One item last week per taining to the Dickens- Kent Fair failed for some reason to be pub lished in the Chronicle. We read with interest in the Chronicle on the front page where dle' George made so many folks mad that they went out and voted for the Bond election. The fact is, only about half of the eligible voters went to the polls, so not to many were mad at dle'George, and to, it looks from the vote at Clairemont, Poter and Girard that better than eight to one went along with the Pot Shot Man. And some old timers'' at the Jayton boxes sided with our thinking, I have read and re read the editors com ment on the front page last week, about Pot shot Darden eating sour grapes over the election and then turn to my column and find where I wrote that all of our citizens should forget and that idle gossip, clicks and clans should be banned and all work together for the good of all citizens. Frankly, voters who voted against the bond election resent any sign that call folks Goats''if we didn't vote YES. The editor cites com ments from a couple of folks, why the bond issue carried, and it seems that in their opinion, Ole George was to blame, How funny, how absurd, I gotta notion that Kent county folks are intelligent enough to wake up their own minds, neither I nor the editor can tell em' how to vote. Anyway, ole George doesn't fear any boogers, even a front page editorial. Thanks to Mae H. Bilbrey who lives away out in Turlock California for a years subscription for The Texas Spur. A few folks are still around that remember back when Monroe (Munn) Hargrove ran a cotton gin here, was also depot agent and carried the mail, and when Munn laughed you could hear him a mile if wind was in the right direction. Ran right smack into Button Mayfield and saw Jim in Rotan the other day, they were spending some ''dough' at the oil mill there for cow feed, kinda sad situation but cows gotta' eat, Clifford Scott and Ollie Burns were trucking cattle to the livestock auction in Lubbock last week, Alton Clark says the cotton gin here is ready to gin cotton and he ex pects a bale or two with in the next few days.
