Will Forrester, a guard at the quarries near Eagle Ford, came to the city for assistance tc run down and capture Commodore Miller and twelve other convicts who made their escape at 9 o’clock Monday. Tht facts in the case are as follows:Ed Forrester, manager of the county convicts, hail been working Commodore Miller and twelve other prisoners in the quarries near Eagle Ford. Will Forrester had been assisting him as a guard. Will waB sitting on the bank, sliot gun in hand, when a rock came whizzing along and knocked him flat. At the sani© instant his brother in the pit was knocked down. Both men were overpowered and disarmed. Commodore appropriated the double-barreled shot-gun and pistols to his own use and fled, followed by his companions. Neither of the guards are badly injured.Sheriff Lewis and his deputies at once started in pursuit of the fugitives. A posse of police officers and another posse of citizens headed by Constable Morton and Ford House also secured horses aud putting spurs to them, rode away in the direction of Eagle Ford.Two months ago Commodore Miller was convicted in the county court of carrying concealed weapons and fined $200 and costs, and given a jail sentence. Judge Bower warned the guards that Commodore Miller was a desperate man, aud ordered them to keep the ball and chain on him at all1 times. Commodore behaved himself, won the confidence of the Forresters and the irons, it is said, were removed.
