Tuttle, his wife, and of Ab-solom [I. Tuttle, his son, yesterday commenced a couple of suits against the United States Mail Line Company to recover damages to the next of kin of his wife and child by reason of their dcuth which was occasioned by the burning of the Pat Rogers on the 5th ult. Mr. Tuttle avers that he and his wife and child, an Infant three years of age, took passage at Louisville for Cincinnati, and that by reason of negligence on the part of the officers and employes of the boat, the boat caught fire, and was wholly destroyed, and that the officers and employes were guilty of gross negligence in not using or trying to use any proper means to arrest the tire after it was discovered, or to rescue the passengers. The amount sought to be recovered in each case is $5,000.โ€”[Cin.
